The number two and number three spots also went to pickup trucks, with the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the Ram Pickup 1500 rounding out the top three. However, a handful of states ended up with Hondas as their most purchased new and used cars in 2021.
New Jersey and Maryland share a few similarities. They are both adjacent to some of the largest cities on the east coast: New York City and Washington D.C., respectively. As a result, they each have a large number of commuters, which may explain their top selling vehicles.

A few other states, including Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut, had CR-Vs as the top new car, but either the Ford F-150 or Nissan Rogue as the top used cars.

Hondas remain extremely popular nationally. The Honda Civic is the number four most purchased used car in the country and the number six new car. The Honda Accord was the number 10 used car, and the Honda CR-V was the number four new car in the nation. Hondas have secured their spot in the heart of American consumers.

Hondas also require less maintenance than most any other brand. Most of the needed repairs aren’t urgent, are fairly affordable and are not needed very often.
