background
The Accord has been a mainstay in
Honda’s
lineup since 1976, and one of the best-selling cars in the U.S. for over 30 years. Such enduring popularity is rare in the fast-moving auto industry, so it was brave of Honda to make wholesale changes to
the 2022 model
.
The latest Accord received turbocharged engines, a redesigned dash, and an upgraded safety suite, all contained within a futuristic-looking body. There is also a hybrid powertrain available.
Yet, despite all these high-tech changes, critics appear to be most impressed with the 2022 Accord’s new and
improved interior
.
The Honda Accord has always been a reliable choice, but is the interior anything to get excited about?

What do critics like about the 2022 Honda Accord’s interior?

Consumer Reports
(CR) is notorious for its strict testing criteria, and yet CR’s team were bowled over by the 2022 Honda Accord’s interior.
CR suggests the Accord has one of the nicest cabins in the mid-size sedan segment, even compared to cars that cost far more.
The plastic trim looks like real wood, and meshes well with chrome control knobs and patterned seats. The redesigned infotainment system looks great and is user friendly.
The knobs, switches, and steering wheel are pleasingly tactile, and the generous use of soft-touch material throughout the Accord’s cabin adds to the high-quality feel.
Look and feel aside, the latest Accord is just a well-designed vehicle. Most of the cubbies and pockets have rubber bases to keep items in place, and the center console cup holders include anti-tip measures.
Headroom is better up front than in the back seats, but all passengers enjoy plenty of legroom and lumbar support.

Does a nice car interior really matter?

Some people might be content with uncomfortable seats and ugly upholstery, but considering how much time we spend inside our cars, having a nice interior does matter.
Still, if you are more interested in looking good from the outside, or having impressive engine specs, rest assured the 2022 Honda Accord checks those boxes too!

The Honda Accord offers more than just a nice interior

Honda upgraded the Accord’s powertrain with a 1.5-liter four cylinder engine, capable of cranking out 192 horsepower. This makes the 2022 Accord one of the quickest cars in its class, but it still maintains a very good fuel economy.
Impressively, Honda’s advanced safety suite comes as standard. This includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assistance, and adaptive cruise control.
There’s not much to dislike! And this is why Consumer Reports gave the Accord an overall score of 88/100, making it the top-ranked midsize car for the 2022 model year!
