background
Porsche has become a brand that’s well-known for
luxury vehicle quality
, which has had people excited about the new 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
Porsche
hasn't revealed much about the GT3 RS, but the latest spy shots show it means business.
Earlier in June,
Road and Track
received spy shots of the 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, which show the latest iteration of the 911 sporting a massive wing on the rear.
Spy video from testing of this Porsche at the Nürburgring showed that the wing isn't just for looks and plays an active role in the aerodynamics of the car.

Performance and specifications of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS

R&T predicts that the next iteration of the 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS won't see much of a power increase over the previous model's 520 horsepower, adding that the downforce from its new aero features will help give it an additional boost on the track.
The publication notes that this model will be a double-clutch transmission like previous GT3 RS models, which the automaker says is necessary to get the fastest lap time.
For context, the previous-iteration 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS produced 520 horsepower and 346 lb.-ft. of torque and reached a 0-to-60 time of 2.9 seconds. That's with a manufacturer-claimed top speed of 194 mph and a quarter-mile time of 11 seconds flat.
The base 2022 911 Carrera GTS, for comparison's sake, produces 473 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque and starts at $138,050. It also has a 0-to-60 time of 2.8 seconds – a whole tenth of a second faster than the 2019 GT3 RS.
So whatever Porsche is cooking up for the latest iteration of the GT3 RS, it needs to blow the previous generation out of the water as the base Porsche 911 closes the gap in terms of performance.

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS exterior

Without anything beyond what we've seen in these spy shots to reference, it seems the Porsche 911 GT3 RS's designers didn't shy away from carbon fiber and composites, which should amount to huge weight savings compared to traditional materials.
The curb weight of the previous model stood at around 3,260 lbs., compared to the contemporary base curb weight of 3,263 lbs.—not many savings to the layman, but enough to make a difference where milliseconds count.

How much will the new 911 cost?

We don't know much about the pricing, but if it's in line with the previous 911 GT3 RS, it's not going to be cheap.
The 2019 911 GT3 RS started at $190,050—eye-watering and out of reach for the average car buyer, but likely not surprising or unpalatable for performance vehicle enthusiasts or even current Porsche owners. If you want one, your best bet is to save up.
With insurance premiums skyrocketing, saving up for that new 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS might be a little tougher. If you’re hurting from higher insurance premiums, it’s probably time to shop around.
