The Chevy Corvette C8 Zora, Here's What We Know

The Chevy Corvette C8 Zora will be one heck of a speed demon hybrid that will probably give it a price range in the six figures.

background
Corvettes
are some of the coolest cars customers can buy right now, and Chevy is offering a few different options to choose from.
Chevy recently unveiled the E-Ray, which is slated to be the first-ever hybrid Corvette option, and it's coming in 2023. Another Corvette option coming in the future is the Chevy Corvette C8 Zora, and here's a look at what we know about this option so far.

How powerful will the Chevy Corvette C8 Zora be?

Just like the E-Ray, the Chevy Corvette C8 Zora is also expected to be a hybrid Corvette, according to
GM Authority
The Zora will probably be powered by a 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine that gets paired with an electric motor. That electric motor may be able to boost the Zora's output by 115 horsepower and 115 lb-ft of torque.
When taken together, this hybrid powertrain should be able to generate about 1,000 horsepower and 1,000 lb-ft of torque. It's also possible that it generates a bit more than that. Either way, those numbers will mean that the Chevy Corvette C8 Zora will be twice as powerful as the E-Ray.
The Zora doesn't have an official 0 to 60 mph time just yet, but with those huge horsepower numbers, it could probably go from 0 to 60 mph in about 2 seconds. This would make it competitive with the Corvette Z06, which many already consider
a speed demon

The performance features that may be in the Chevy Corvette C8 Zora

The Zora should be a very capable Corvette when it's going in a straight line, but it might also do well on the corners, too. This is thanks to the other performance upgrades that Chevy gave to the car. For instance, the Chevy Corvette C8 Zora will be the second-ever Corvette to get all-wheel drive, with the E-Ray being the first.
Chevy will also probably give upgrades to the Zora's Magnetic Ride Control system which will improve the Corvette's handling. Its brakes are likely also getting upgrades like access to regenerative braking among other features.
It's not upgrades all-around, however. Since the Zora is a hybrid Corvette, the hybrid components will add extra weight to the car. Chevy has put some effort to take that extra weight into account, but the weight may affect the Zora's stopping performance slightly.

What else we know about the Chevy Corvette C8 Zora

It's expected that the Chevy Corvette C8 Zora will come out in the 2024 model year, which means that customers may be able to get their hands on one in late 2023. It's also clear that the Zora will have very aggressive styling, though its interior should also be rather nice and comfortable.
Since it's a Corvette that will probably get over 1,000 horsepower, it won't be a cheap car. The Zora will almost certainly be valued in six figures. Its pricing hasn't been revealed yet, but a price tag that's between $150,000 to $200,000 is likely. For comparison, the regular Corvette, which is already a very capable muscle car, currently starts at about $60,000.

Every Chevy Corvette needs car insurance

The Chevy Corvette C8 Zora may be a ways away, but every Corvette customer will need car insurance.
