background
Car enthusiasts love showing off their rides, but until recently, opportunities to do so are usually pretty slim.
Classic car
owners either had to attend full-blown car shows, which cost money and took months to organize, or they went to their local, minimally attended meetups.
Enter the “Cars and Coffee,” a global, online car show community. These early-morning meetups happen all over the world and can host some of the rarest, most expensive cars you’re likely to see in your lifetime.

Cars and Coffee events—spontaneous and spectacular

A Cars and Coffee event doesn’t offer any prestige in terms of prize money or trophies, but that doesn’t million-dollar car owners from showing up to them.
In fact, even though these events are impromptu,
Hot Cars
says they often turn out to be exclusively for top-tier collectibles and hyper cars. Bugattis, Ferraris, and McLarens are regularly spotted at these shows.
Because the level of automotive design at these events is so high, they often attract the rich and famous, especially those known specifically by the car enthusiast community.
Whether they’re showing off their impressive wheels or mixing in with the rest of the crowd, don’t be surprised to see a familiar face.

What to know before attending a Cars and Coffee event

Cars and Coffee events are free for anyone to attend, but there are a few things you should know before going to one.
If the “Coffee” part of the name didn’t tip you off, be sure to know: these shows tend to start quite early. And while they are a come-and-go type thing, it’s best to get there when it starts.
Also, Cars and Coffee was designed to be a social event. Many car lovers attend them with the sole purpose of mingling, so don’t be afraid to chat with owners and fellow gawkers.
At the same time, there are a few faux-pas to avoid. Firstly, you’ll want to leave your rust bucket at home. The average value of vehicles being so high, you’ll end up annoying people for taking up a spot if your ride isn’t up to snuff.
Secondly, basic car show etiquette applies. If you can’t respect the “look, don’t touch”, “mind the photographers”, or  “keep it legal” cliches, you’ll likely be asked to leave.

Coverage for “Cars and Coffee” level automobiles

With nameplates like Ferrari and McLaren being dropped, you’d probably guess that average car insurance for the vehicles at Cars and Coffee events lands pretty high. In truth, it’s a little more complicated than that.
Yes, most super and hyper car owners choose agreed-value policies which rise and fall based on the cars they cover. But for older models, classic car coverage can actually cost less than insurance for a regular vehicle.
