How much can I save with the North Carolina electric vehicle incentive?
In North Carolina, the following rebates are available for electric vehicle drivers who buy and install a level 2 charger at home:
- $500 for Randolph Electric Membership Corporation (Randolph EMC) members
- $100 for Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative (CHES) members
Additionally, both companies offer Time-of-Use (TOU) rates, which allow electric vehicle owners to save money on their electricity bills by paying lower rates during non-peak charging hours.
How to get the North Carolina electric vehicle incentive
In order to claim the incentive from Randolph EMC, you’ll need to email one of the representatives found on the
Randolph EMC Electric Vehicle Utility Program (REVUP) website
.Eligibility criteria
Eligibility criteria differ for each incentive program.
For the Randolph EMC rebate program and TOU rates, you must:
- Be a residential REMC member
- Be one of the first 25 members to sign up for the program
- Be a registered owner of an electric vehicle
- Purchase and install a Wi-Fi-enabled level 2 charger
- Allow Randolph EMC to collect data from your charger
For the CHES rebate program and TOU rates, you must:
- Be a CHES member
- Live on Hatteras Island
- Buy and install a Wi-Fi-enabled ChargePoint level 2 electric vehicle charger at your home
- Allow CHES to collect data from your charger
