Address: 7640 S Old State Road 37, Bloomington, IN
Schedule: Seasonally starting in March through December, Tuesday through Sunday, rain or shine
Ticket prices: $9 for ages 13 and up ($7 for a Single Feature Nite), $4 for ages 6-12, free for ages 5 and under
Number of screens: 1
Pet-friendly? Yes, but remember to keep them leashed and clean up after them
Originally opened in 1955, the
Starlite Drive-In
is a longstanding Monroe County tradition. This family-owned and operated theater prides itself on its “Natural Grass Auto-torium and great Car-feteria.”

Movies

Starlite usually shows new releases in a double-feature single screen, now with digital projection. However, they often have Single Feature Nites with a new release and cheaper admission. Starlite also hosts seasonal special viewings with free admission. You can buy your
tickets online
or in person at the box office.
Movie-goers with large vehicles should park in the back half of the field so smaller cars can see the movie. They also request open hatches to be tied down and level with the vehicle’s roof.

How to hear the movie

The movie sound will be transmitted through your vehicle’s radio on WKJB 97.5 FM, or you can bring a portable radio if you prefer.

Snacks

Starlite boasts a wide array of concessions, with everything from hot dogs, corndogs, and pizza, to burgers, nachos, and pretzels. Of course, they also have movie favorites like popcorn, candy, frozen treats, and soft drinks. Plus, all refills for popcorn and soft drinks are free—for any size.

Canary Creek Cinemas

Address: 870 Mallory Parkway, Franklin, IN
Schedule: Open seasonally from spring to fall, box office opens at 7 PM
Ticket prices: $8 for adults, $5 for ages 5 to 11
Number of screens: 2
Pet-friendly? Unclear, but stay on the safe side and leave pets at home
Canary Creek Cinemas is a brick-and-mortar movie theater in Franklin, but they also host a
drive-in theatre
in the south parking lot of their complex. Canary Creek is Johnson County’s only drive-in, and it’s the perfect place to spend an evening out.

Movies

The drive-in at Canary Creek shows new releases as double features. They also host seasonal events with fan-favorite films.
Be warned that patrons under the age of 17 who want to see an R-rated movie will be required to have a parent or guardian with them.

How to hear the movie

At the Canary Creek drive-in, the sound is emitted through the radio of your car. You’ll be provided with the specific radio station frequency when you pay at the entrance gate.

Snacks

Canary Creek has all of the classic movie snacks—hot dogs, popcorn, pretzels, candy, and soft drinks. Their concession stand stays open until the end of intermission before the second feature. Don’t worry—bathrooms stay open until the end of the second feature!

Georgetown Drive-In

Address: 8200 IN-64, Georgetown, IN
Schedule: Open seasonally spring to fall, usually Friday through Sunday, rain or shine
Ticket prices: $11 for ages 13 and older, $6 for ages 6-12, free for ages 5 and under
Number of screens: 2
Pet-friendly? No, but they host several dog-friendly events each season
First opened in 1951,
Georgetown Drive-In
is a local favorite. Once a traditional solo screen, Georgetown Drive-In now has two screens to offer. They’re also one of the only remaining drive-ins with a playground for kids to enjoy before the movie. Beloved in their community, Georgetown Drive-In celebrated its 70th Anniversary in 2021.

Movies

Georgetown Drive-In plays new releases, as well as a few seasonal favorites throughout the season. During the season, they announce each weekend’s showings on their
Facebook page
each week.

How to hear the movie

Audio can be heard through your vehicle’s FM radio—95.1 FM for the front screen and 90.7 FM for the rear screen. If you’re feeling extra nostalgic, though, they do still have several functional window speakers.

Snacks

Georgetown Drive-In offers lots of delicious options at their snack bar, including onion rings, cheese sticks, burgers, chilidogs, hotdogs, nachos, popcorn, ice cream, and candy. If they’re open during the week, though, no burgers or fried foods will be available until the weekend.
Because Georgetown Drive-In relies almost entirely on concession sales to stay open, they discourage bringing outside snacks. However, you are allowed to bring snacks from home if it will make your experience more enjoyable. They do request, however, that you purchase an item or two from the concession stand to support the business.
