Why is my engine oil smoking?
While running errands today my hood started to emit thick blue smoke and my engine light went on. When the tow truck arrived, the driver said it looked like my engine oil was smoking up. Do you know why my engine oil is smoking?

We’re sorry to hear you’re having problems with your engine! If your engine oil is smoking, it could be due to one of two reasons—there’s too much oil in your engine or oil is burning in your combustion chamber.
The best way to find out why your engine oil is smoking is to bring it in for service as soon as possible, as this could be a sign of serious engine damage.
If you recently got an oil change, the problem could be too much oil or the wrong kind of oil in your car. You’ll have to flush the engine and replace it with the right amount and type of oil.
If your oil levels and type are fine, there’s most likely a problem with your engine involving the valves, piston rings, cylinder walls, or PVC system. These are all problems you’ll want to resolve immediately as your car isn’t drivable with a malfunctioning motor.
