Why does my 2013 Hyundai Sonata dome light stay on?

I’ve noticed that the dome light on my Hyundai won’t shut off—even with the doors closed and the car off—what gives? Why does my 2013 Hyundai Sonata dome light not turn off?

Your 2013
Hyundai Sonata’s
dome light may be staying on if a door isn’t properly closed, the manual light switch is damaged, or the body control module (BCM) is faulty.
First, check to ensure the doors are closed. Sometimes, a door appears to be properly closed, but the inner latch isn’t properly catching due to it being misaligned or due to a loose hinge. In such a case, the door fails to latch and doesn’t interrupt the circuit, which would turn the dome light off.
Sometimes, the manual light switch can be damaged, preventing the dome light from turning off. Check to make sure manual light switches on the roof close to the dome light, on the door, or on the dashboard are in proper working order. If they are not, this could be a clue.
The issue could also be related to your Sonata’s body control module, which is a computer that monitors, regulates, and controls various electrical components in your car, including the dome light. If the BCM is faulty or malfunctioning, this could prevent the dome light from turning off.
To get to the bottom of a dome light issue, take your Sonata to your local Hyundai dealer in order to get the problem properly diagnosed and repaired.
