I recently decided I want to try and learn how to work on cars, so I thought getting my own OBD scanner could be a good place to start. I want to try it out on my car, but I’m not sure where to plug it in. Where is the OBD port located on a 2013 Honda Civic?

can be found under your driver’s side dashboard, directly above your gas pedal. It could be a little hard to see at first, so you might want to grab a flashlight for a better view.Since you’re new to car repair, here are a few more easy-to-learn maintenance checks you can try:
- Changing a tire.
- Checking the level of your engine oil, transmission fluid, and coolant.
- Changing your air filter.
All of these tasks can be completed by almost anyone, even if you just started working on cars and have little-to-no experience. All you need to do is look up an online tutorial, take some notes, and give it a try! Once you’ve mastered these, you can move on to more ambitious repairs like a DIY oil change.
And if you decide you need some help along the way, you can always look into your local community college or trade school for affordable car maintenance classes.
