Exactly where the OBD port location is in a
Jeep Cherokee
depends on the age of your vehicle. In most cases you’ll find your Cherokee’s OBD port located under the dashboard trim on the driver’s side of the vehicle. In older models, the port is typically to the right of your steering column—while newer models tend to have it on the left.
Here’s a general guide on how to find the OBD port location in your Jeep Cherokee:
  • Start by opening the driver’s side door of your vehicle
  • Crouch down to get a better look inside the driver’s footwell
  • In Cherokee models made before 2014, locate the gas and brake pedals on the right-hand side of the driver’s footwell. The OBD port will be located above the pedals underneath the dashboard trim.
  • In Cherokee models made in 2014 or later, look to the left of the gas and brake pedals. The OBD port should be located toward the left-side footrest underneath the dashboard trim.
Once you’ve found the port in your vehicle, you can plug in your OBD tool and scan for
trouble codes
. If you have difficulty pinpointing the connector, you can always refer to your Cherokee’s owner’s manual for more details regarding your specific model.
