I’m interested in purchasing a used Dodge Ram 1500 but would love to know which model year or years I should be taking a closer look at. What’s the best year for a used Dodge Ram?

The answer to this question is a bit complicated, as the
Dodge Ram 1500
was launched in 2002, and then the “Dodge” name was dropped in 2009. However, the manufacturers kept producing the Ram 1500.If you’re willing to include the newer, non-Dodge Ram 1500s, then the best model year is easily the 2018 Ram 1500. Out of all the model years, it has the fewest number of complaints on CarComplaints.com (only 12 in total), making it the most reliable version of the vehicle yet.
There are nine total recalls on the vehicle by the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA), but these recalls are all easily resolved by the Ram dealership. Plus, since the 2018 Ram is still relatively new, most of the issues will have been dealt with prior to sale.
If you’re exclusively looking for a Dodge Ram 1500 that still includes the
Dodge
nameplate, then we suggest the 2006 model. The truck underwent a facelift for the 2006 model year, which included an impressive selection of modern features. You can purchase the truck with either a V6, V8, or HEMI V8 engine. No matter which you choose, you can expect this truck to last a very long time.
