What year was the first Ford Focus ZX4?

I was at an auction last weekend and a Ford Focus ZX4 was on the block—this model was the first car I ever had, so it brought up some fond memories. Although I got outbid, someone told me that it was a collector’s car for Focus fans because it was the first year it was available. What year did the first Ford Focus ZX4 come out?

If the
Ford Focus ZX4
was your first car, no wonder the auction piqued your interest! The first Ford Focus ZX4 was unveiled in 2005 as one of four distinct Focus models.
The 2005 model year of the Focus was the debut of the second-generation of the vehicle, as well as the introduction of the now-famous Focus ZX4 ST trim. Some of the highlights of the 2005 Focus ZX4 lineup for each trim include:
  • S: 15-inch wheels, an AM/FM/CD stereo, and dual-stage front and passenger airbags
  • SE: All of the S trim content plus air conditioning, power windows and locks, an MP3 player, and remote keyless entry
  • SEL: All of the SE’s features plus 16-inch alloy wheels and a telescoping and leather-wrapped steering wheel
  • ST: All of the SEL’s content plus a 2.3-liter Duratec engine, sport-tuned exhaust, fog lamps, heated outside mirrors, sport-trimmed interior fabric, and chrome-tipped exhaust
While the auction may have passed, you can still find the Ford Focus ZX4 for sale online. If you’re feeling nostalgic enough to buy a ZX4, take a proactive approach to car insurance by comparing quotes on the
