What voids a Mercedes-Benz warranty?
My Mercedes is less than a year old and I was thinking of making some customizations to the headlights and taillights with aftermarket parts. My friend, who has offered to do the installation, warned me that this could mess with my factory warranty should anything go awry. Is that true?

warranty could be void if you tamper with certain parts of the vehicle. All new Mercedes-Benz vehicles come with a New Vehicle Limited Warranty which covers all bumper-to-bumper material or workmanship-related defects for the first 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. But if you replace factory parts with aftermarket parts and things don’t work out as you intended, the parts you’ve modified may no longer qualify for warranty coverage.
This also applies to damage caused to the vehicle by using the wrong mechanical fluids, cleaners, waxes, or polishes. While it won’t void the entire warranty, the New Vehicle Warranty won’t cover any fixes related to these areas.
There is one thing that could void the entire warranty: tampering with the odometer. This makes it impossible to determine the vehicle’s true mileage.
