What should I do when my baby cries while I’m driving?
Every morning, I take my infant son to his grandparents’ for the day while I’m at work, and every day he cries the entire way there. I hate to just leave him back there crying, but I need to pay attention to the road. Is there anything I can do to soothe him?

Car rides can be soothing for many babies, but for some, they’re anything but peaceful. Here are a few things you can do when your baby cries while you’re driving:
- *Check the car seat straps—they should be snug, but not so tight that Baby can’t move around a bit.
- *Check Baby’s clothing for bunching or other uncomfortable issues.
- *Tuck a blanket around him to see if the added support and snuggle factor will help calm him.
- *Check the temperature in the backseat—Baby might be too hot or too cold.
- *Provide entertainment: There are countless toys on the market designed specifically for car seats. You can also affix a mirror or even a picture of yourself to the back seat to give Baby something to look at.
- *Play calming music or white noise.
