What is the oil type for a 2011 Honda Civic?

My sister-in-law just bought a 2011 Honda Civic. Her birthday is coming up and I thought I’d change her oil for her. What oil should I get?

Wow, what a truly unique birthday gift! I love it. The 2011
Honda Civic
oil type is SAE 5W-20. You will need 3.9 quarts of oil to complete a full oil change.
We recommend using synthetic oil instead of conventional oil when changing the oil in your Honda Civic. Why?
  • Synthetic oil protects the engine and is cleaner than conventional oil because it doesn’t break down and form deposits
  • Synthetic oil flows more easily to vital parts of the engine
  • Synthetic oil is more stable and has greater viscosity at high and low temperatures
  • Synthetic oil lasts longer, so you’ll enjoy more time in between oil changes
