What is the lifespan of brake pads?

I had new brake pads put on my car yesterday but forgot to ask the mechanic how long they will last! What is the lifespan of my car’s new brake pads?

Great question! It’s always hard to remember them as you’re leaving the mechanic.
Depending on the type of brake pads you chose and your driving style, brake pads can last you anywhere from 30,000 to 70,000 miles. However, this is not a hard and fast rule—semi-metallic brake pads often have a lifespan of 50,000 miles, whereas ceramic brake pads have a longer average lifespan of 70,000 miles.
Then, you also need to consider your driving style. If you drive a high-performance car or drive fast with frequent stops, the lifespan of your brake pads will likely be shorter. The same goes for cars that frequently pull heavy loads.
So, since your brake pads are new, you won’t have to worry about replacing them for at least another 30,000 miles! In the meantime, keep your car in A+ condition by making sure you have a solid car insurance policy with some help from
