What is the cause of the 2017 Dodge RAM HEMI ticking noise?

I have a 2017 Dodge RAM with the 5.7-liter HEMI under the hood. It’s one of my favorite vehicles I’ve ever owned, so when a ticking noise started to become more apparent, I got pretty concerned. What might be the cause of the 2017 RAM HEMI ticking noise?

Interestingly, RAM/Dodge has stated that the 2017 Dodge RAM HEMI ticking noise is normal and nothing to worry about in most cases. However, there is one situation that may cause a ticking noise beyond the normal tick: loose exhaust manifold bolts.
When these bolts come loose, they can rattle or tick when exhaust comes through the manifold. If left untreated, the exhaust manifold can actually crack or require total replacement, so it’s best to simply tighten the bolts and inspect the manifold for damage. If you wait and the manifold fails, expect to pay between $500 and $600 to replace it.
