What is an example of aggressive driving?

I’ve come across the term aggressive driving several times now. I thought it was just the opposite of defensive driving, but apparently, it’s something you can be ticketed for. What are aggressive driving behaviors?

It’s a reasonable assumption that the opposite of defensive driving would be aggressive, since they’re the only adjectives we apply to general driving styles. But aggressive in this sense essentially just means dangerous.
Aggressive driving includes behaviors including but not limited to the following:
  • Changing lanes without signaling
  • Following other cars too closely
  • Speeding in heavy traffic
  • Cutting off other drivers and deliberately slowing down
If you see aggressive drivers on the road, keep a safe distance, as aggressive driving is a common cause of car accidents. So, it’s best to avoid the situation if at all possible.
And it should go without saying to avoid exhibiting any of these driving habits yourself. Aside from the obvious consequences, it can get you labeled as a
high-risk driver
and cause your car insurance rates to skyrocket.
