What Does It Mean When A BMW Says Chassis Stabilization?

Please help! I’ve seen this a few times now and don't know what it means. My BMW flashes a warning at me saying something about Chassis Stabilization and I have no idea what that means. What does it mean and what should I do when it says that?

I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve been dealing with that frustration! It can be a little nerve-wracking when you don’t know what a warning means.
When a
BMW
says Chassis Stabilization, it means that the car is detecting that it might swerve out of control. This can be caused by several things, including:
  • A problem with the Anti-lock Brake SystemBrake System (ABS)
  • A problem with the suspension
  • A problem with the engine
  • A problem with the transmission
These are just some of the common causes. The Chassis Stabilization message is really a pretty generic warning. So, it could be any number of things. Unless you start to notice it frequently, it might just be a temporary hiccup or a momentary traction issue.
If it happens often, however, you’ll want to have your BMW looked over by a mechanic.
Remember to always drive slowly and carefully when the Chassis Stabilization message shows up, just in case!
