My car seems to hate winter as much as I do. Sometimes I’ll press the start button and it won’t turn on. What are some reasons that my Hyundai Sonata won’t start in the cold?

That sounds so frustrating! It’s possible that your Hyundai Sonata won’t start in the cold because of battery issues.
By far, a weak battery is the most common reason that a car will struggle to start in cold weather. This is true whether you drive a
Hyundai Sonata
or some other make and model. First,
jumpstart your car battery
, if the problem happens again, then get your battery tested at a local repair shop—they will usually test your battery for free. Check for faulty connections, too. You may need to replace the battery if it’s too old. If your battery is healthy, then you might want to find a way to keep your car (and battery) warmer in the cold winter months. Some people use a battery blanket that insulates the battery to prevent this type of issue. You’ll need to remove this covering before driving.
If possible, park indoors to keep the battery’s temperature up.
It may be worth bringing your vehicle to a Hyundai dealership. You’re not the first person to report problems with their Sonata in cold weather. Even if you can’t get them to fix it for free, at least you can report it so that Hyundai knows there is a problem.
