Shifting your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee into neutral is problematic when the battery is dead because of the electronic gear shifter. Due to the electronic mechanism, it won’t move out of park when the battery’s dead, so follow these steps to put your 2014 Grand Cherokee in neutral:
  1. Open the driver’s side door and hop inside.
  2. Engage the parking brake.
  3. Open the center console.
  4. Near the back of the center console, you should see a plastic panel around the hinge of the console.
  5. Use your fingers to pry out this piece of plastic.
  6. Inside, you should see an orange or red strap.
  7. Pull firmly on the strap, which will put the car in neutral.
