Is a starter covered under my Kia warranty?

My car has been having trouble getting going in the mornings, so I took it to my neighborhood mechanic. He said I need to have my starter replaced. I still have a few months on my warranty—should I take it to the Kia dealership and let them fix it, or pay for my mechanic to do the repair?

It’s never fun when your car won’t start. Your starter is covered in your basic 5-year/60,000-mile warranty so bring your car down to the dealership to get that repair taken care of.
In fact, your warranty offers you bumper-to-bumper coverage during its lifespan. Any problem you have is covered unless you’re looking for daily use coverage, or wear and tear repairs like:
  • Oil changes
  • Tire rotation or replacement
  • Brakes and brake pads
  • Clutches
  • Windshield wipers
  • Light bulbs
  • Exterior damage
  • Collision damage
To get collision damage repaired, you’ll need to go through an insurance company, whether your own or the party at fault. If you’ve purchased
liability coverage
alone for your vehicle, you could find yourself paying for repairs like these out of pocket once your warranty expires.
