Is a Jeep Wrangler a good first car?
My daughter is turning 16 and I thought about passing down my Jeep Wrangler as a reward for getting her driver’s license. I see a lot of them in her high school parking lot, but I’m concerned about whether or not it’s the right choice. Is the Jeep Wrangler a good choice for a first car?

Most people would consider a
good first car for a teenager
to be safe and to have a good driving demeanor. If you consider these factors alone, the answer is no—the Jeep Wrangler
is not a good first car. Newer models of the Wrangler receive an overall Marginal safety rating (the second lowest) from the International Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS). Used four-door models from 2007 to 2017 and two-door models from 2006 and prior receive overall Good ratings, but all models are going to be optimized for driving on rough trails rather than smooth local roads.
