How much are toll roads in Texas?

I’ll be spending a lot of time in Texas over the next few months, and I’ll be doing a lot of driving. How much should I expect to pay for tolls?

Texas
has quite a collection of toll roads in Austin, Houston, and Dallas/Ft. Worth areas. Each road has its own rates, but they range from about $0.95 to 3.
Here are the rates for 2-axle passenger vehicles at six of the most heavily trafficked toll facilities in the state:
  • Dallas North Tollway—$2.61
  • DFW Airport toll plaza—$3
  • Fort Bend Parkway—$0.92
  • Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge—$2.09
  • Mountain Creek Lake Bridge—$1.05
  • Sam Houston Tollway—$1.75
If you want to save yourself some money, head over to txtag.org to get yourself a transponder tag. It also allows you to bypass toll facilities without having to wait in line to pay cash.
Getting yourself a TxTag is a great way to save money on Texas toll rates, but shopping on the
