Which Cadillacs have the best gas mileage?

The Cadillac CT4 &
Cadillac CT5
are tied for the best gas mileage in Cadillac’s line-up. Next is the compact crossover
Cadillac XT4
, followed by its crossover SUV brethren, the
Cadillac XT5
.
  • 2023 Cadillac CT4 & CT5: up to 27 mpg combined
  • 2023 Cadillac XT4: up to 26 mpg combined
  • 2023 Cadillac XT5: up to 24 mpg combined
Let’s acknowledge the elephant in the room: 27 miles per gallon is hardly a stellar fuel economy rating, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s the best Cadillac can do with its current gas-powered line-up. However, we can promise a fuel-efficient surprise coming up later in the article—stay tuned!

The most fuel-efficient Cadillac cars

The Cadillac CT4 and Cadillac CT5 sport sedans are tied for Cadillac’s most fuel-efficient cats. These two sporty sedans both get a respectable 27 miles per gallon with the same 2.0L turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood with 237 horsepower.
The CT4 (starting MSRP $35,790) offers sportiness and good exterior looks, but its performance is merely ok. The CT5 (starting MSRP $38,195) is a bit pricier, but it shares the same underwhelming driving dynamics as the CT4. The CT5 does get a better interior with more standard tech features, though, which explains its higher price.
The CT4-V Blackwing (starting MSRP $61,890) is the next most fuel-efficient car from Cadillac—i.e. not an SUV. However, with just 18 mpg combined, it’s hardly a fuel-efficient car at all! However, the CT4-V Blackwing may be worth it for its super-fast twin-turbo V6 engine with 472 horsepower, precise steering, and nimble handling.
Now, if you thought the CT4-V Blackwing was a gas guzzler, the CT5-V Blackwing chugs gas at 15 mpg combined! The CT5-V Blackwing (starting MSRP $$92,390) features a roaring 6.2-liter V8 engine with a denture-cracking 668 horsepower. Its handling is sublime, and an optional manual transmission is available—just be prepared to get to know your local gas station attendant very well.
If you’re looking for a more efficient alternative in the CT4/CT5 price range, consider the 2023
Acura Integra
(starting MSRP $31,895) or the
2023 BMW 3-Series
(starting MSRP $43,295). The Integra offers fun, eager handling with up to 30 mpg combined, while the 3-series boasts a powerful engine and roomy cabin with up to 28 mpg combined.
Now if you want something in the Blackwing realm, we’d suggest either the
BMW M3
(starting MSRP $73,795) or the posh 2023 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT43 (starting MSRP $93,550). The M3 incandescent inline-6 engine and amazing acceleration come with 19 mpg combined, while the AMG GT 43 accomplishes 21 mpg combined with just as impressive performance.

Most fuel-efficient Cadillac SUVs

The 2023
Cadillac XT4 compact crossover
(starting MSRP $36,295), is at the head of Cadillac’s SUVs regarding gas mileage with a solid 26 mpg combined. It’s powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine boasting 235 horsepower, while also offering a big interior and lots of standard features.
Right behind the XT4 is the 2023
Cadillac XT5 crossover
(starting MSRP $44,195), which sports the same engine as the XT4, but there is an option for a more powerful V6—with the standard engine, the XT5 gets 24 mpg combined. Neither the XT4 nor XT5 is particularly noteworthy for their performance, and the interiors on both leave much to be desired.
The 2023 Cadillac XT6 (starting MSRP $48,595) is tied with the 2023
Cadillac Escalade
($82,590) for third—both get 23 mpg combined. The XT6 has a fetching exterior look, but its interior is hardly as luxurious as the Escalade with its wood, leather, and satin accents throughout. The Escalade is powered by a hulking 6.2-liter V8 engine with 420 horsepower.
In last place, we have the 2023 Cadillac Escalade V with just 13 mpg combined. With a not-at-all-expensive starting price of $152,490, the Escalade V sports an insanely powerful 6.2-liter V8 engine with a whip-lashing 682 horsepower. But that fuel economy? Yikes.
The 2023
Volvo XC40
(starting MSRP $37,445) is a solid alterative to the Cadillac XT options, with its slick looks, lots of standard features, and 27 mpg combined. The 2023 Genesis GV70 is also worth a look—it gets 24 mpg combined and brings nimble handling, a peppy twin-turbo engine, and a handsome interior.
If you prefer analternative to the Escalade, give a gander to the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer (starting price $89,995) and the 2023 Mercedes-Benz AMG GLS63 4Matic (starting price $136,450). The Grand Wagoneer is spacious and powerful, the  AMG GLS63 4Matic is as high-end as you can get, and both offer 16 mpg combined.

Cadillac’s electric SUV

Here’s that surprise we promised! The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq (starting MSRP $62,990) is the brand’s first electric vehicle (EV) and delivers up to 89 MPGe combined with 312 miles of driving range on a full battery charge.
Equipped with a 340 horsepower electric motor, the Lyriq’s ultra-quiet ride isn’t the most thrilling, but its acceleration is decent and the steering is responsive. The Lyriq makes an impact, though, with a monstrous 33-inch curved LED touchscreen that houses both the driver’s digital cluster gauge and the infotainment touchscreen.
