How long does a starter last?

My grandmother can no longer drive, so she gave me her old car. She wasn’t the best at taking it for repairs, so I'm worried about the starter. Can you tell me how long a starter lasts?

How long a starter lasts is between 100,000 and 150,000 miles, but it depends on your environment.
Drivers who live in warmer climates are less likely to see their starters die before the 100,000 mile threshold, while those in
colder climates
are more likely to die a little sooner than that.
Instead of thinking about it in terms of miles driven, you can also think about the number of starts. A starter should last you around 80,000 starts, meaning it will turn your engine on 80,000 times during its lifetime.
If you take a peek at your odometer, you should get a pretty good idea of how long you can expect your starter to last.
If you’ve got an older car, you should consider outfitting it with
mechanical breakdown insurance
to keep it running as long as possible. And shopping for car insurance is a walk in the park when you use
