Points will stay on your record for between three and 10 years in California, depending on the severity of the infraction.
Here’s a look at how long different kinds of

There are also consequences for accumulating too many points.
  • 4 points in one year:
    License suspension
    for six months
  • 6 points in two years: License suspension for six months
  • 8 points in three years: License suspension for six months
Pro tip: If you want to remove points from your record earlier, you can always find a
California defensive driving course
to get a point or two knocked off. This won’t dramatically affect your record, but it’s a handy tool to keep in your back pocket in case you’re approaching the license suspension limit.
