How long can you drive on a spare tire?

How many miles can you drive on a spare tire? One of my tires was flat, and I was worried I was going to be stranded. Thankfully, I had a spare tire in my car, but I had to drive pretty far back to my house.

It’s a good thing you had an emergency spare tire with you! While it’s a good thing you have a spare tire to help save the day, be mindful that you should drive on a spare tire for no more than 70 miles.
While it’s better to drive on a spare than a flat tire, you can damage your car and risk getting into an accident because the donut tire lacks traction.
Once you have put the spare tire on, it is best to immediately go to a body shop and have a professional change your tire.
If you do end up in a bad situation again, it’s good to have extra coverage for peace of mind. Try adding a roadside assistance program to your coverage. Along with traditional benefits, you get Uber-like tracking for the status of your service and the ability to contact your service provider directly for as low as $4.16 a month.
Be careful driving on the spare tire!
