How far can a Jeep Patriot go on empty?

The gas light in my Jeep Patriot has been on for about a day, and while I haven’t driven much, I’m wondering when it will run out. How far can I go on an empty tank?

While there is no exact distance your Jeep can drive with the gas light illuminated, the 13.5 or 13.6-gallon tank can go about 300 miles on a full tank. Because the gas light typically goes on when the tank is at 10-15% capacity, the Jeep Patriot could go about 30-45 miles on empty before it runs out of gas. If the gas light goes on in your vehicle, it’s best to get to a gas station as soon as possible.
Keep in mind that how far you can drive with 10-15% fuel capacity is affected by your driving habits. If you’re stuck in heavy, slow-moving traffic, those 30-45 miles could quickly decrease to 15-20 miles—and if you’re a heavy accelerator, you’ll also burn through the reserves faster, reducing the mileage.
In any case, driving with an empty tank is never wise—but that’s where having a
car insurance
policy that includes
roadside assistance
comes in handy.
