How does Chevrolet Colorado depreciation hold up over time?

My Ford F-150 is getting on in years, and after driving a Colorado for work the past three years, I think it’s time to move over to Chevy. But what does Chevrolet Colorado depreciation look like over time? Can it hold its value like my F-150 did?

Chevrolet Colorado depreciation sits at around 9 to 11 percent after one year. That’s slightly worse than the Ford F-150, which loses just 5 to 7 percent that first year.
However, the Colorado retains more of its value after five years, still having around 82 percent of its value versus the F-150 having about 76 percent.
Most vehicles depreciate quickly in the first one to three years of owning them, but those curves are typically a lot softer for pickup trucks thanks to their rugged, durable construction. They’re workhorses that can take a beating most other civilian vehicles can’t.
Ultimately, these numbers don’t provide us with a clear winner in the pickup truck depreciation contest. You also have to factor in variables like:
  • Condition
  • Reliability
  • Usage,A Ford used harder than a Chevy might depreciate more quickly, and vice versa.
Depreciation isn’t the only financial question you’ll want to consider when choosing between these two trucks.
Ford F-150 insurance costs
and
Chevrolet Colorado insurance costs
are important, too.
The average
car insurance
costs of a Ford F-150 in 2021 were $1,920. The Colorado’s average cost that same year was slightly higher, at $2,130. That difference of a couple of hundred bucks per year will matter to some drivers.
Whichever truck you choose, you should keep those rates as low as possible using the
