How do you install a tow hook on a Honda Civic?
My husband and I decided to go on a road trip, and we’d like to bring our Honda Civic with us for small excursions. Unfortunately, our model isn’t set up for towing! What’s the best way to install a tow hook on my Honda Civic?

can be loads of fun, and it’s always nice to have an extra car around! Luckily, it’s relatively easy to attach a tow hook to the front of your car.Follow these steps to install a tow hook on your Honda Civic:
- Start by removing your front bumper cover by unbolting it from the inside lip of your engine block. Once the bolts are gone, you can gently pry the cover off from the space below your headlights.
- Remove your forward horn by unbolting it from the bumper.
- Use a 5-millimeter spacer to remount it on the side of your bumper.
- Take out the two bolts holding the crash support beam in place.
- Place your towing hook adapter over the bolt threads and replace the bolts—this time connecting the hook adapter as well.
- Trim the front grille so you can fit the hook to the trims in the tow hook adapter.
- Reinstall the front bumper, taking extra care to safely secure it.
- Place your tow hook through the trimmed area in your grille and screw it into the tow hook adapter.
Hopefully, these steps can help you install a tow hook on your Honda Civic! While there are other installation methods, this option lets you take full advantage of the bolt holes and threads that already exist.
Remember, your towing capacity will depend on the tow hook you buy—so it’s important to buy a hook with a relatively high weight capacity.
