How do you change the license plate light in a Toyota Camry?
What’s the easiest way to change the license plate light in a Toyota Camry? I can’t figure out how to access the light but I would rather save money by changing it at home.

It’s a little complicated to change the license plate light in a
Toyota Camry
at home since you’ll need to remove some of the carpet in your trunk. But it can be done with time and patience.To replace your license plate light, follow these steps:
- Open the trunk and find the fasteners that hold down the carpet on the trunk’s lid. They should be round, back plastic rivets.
- Pop these out of place. You don’t have to remove them all, but remove at least three close to the license plate light.
- Pull back the carpet and find the license plate light housing. It looks like a black plastic box.
- Carefully, squeeze together the two plastic prongs on either side of the bulb housing and push the housing slightly out of the trunk.
- Once you’ve pushed out the housing, you’ll be able to use a flathead screwdriver to pry off the lens cover on the light.
- Grab the old bulb and pull it straight out, then push the new bulb into the socket.
- Replace the lens cover and slide the housing back into place. Make sure to test the light to see if the replacement was successful!
- Then, complete steps 1-6 backward to replace the housing, carpet, and rivets.
