How do you add coolant to a 2007 BMW 328I?

Since the weather has gotten colder, I’ve started to see the temperature gauge in my BMW go up. I feel like this might be due to low coolant levels, but I’m not sure how to add coolant on my own; this is always something I’ve gotten done at the mechanics. Is there any way I can add coolant to my 2007 BMW 328I myself?

You certainly can add coolant to your
BMW 328I
on your own; it’s a very simple process. Before you begin, you should put the proper safety precautions in place, such as:
  • Moving your car to a well-ventilated area
  • Wearing safety gloves and eye protection
  • Waiting at least half an hour after driving your car to begin working
Now that you’ve put your safety first, you’re ready to begin adding coolant to your 2007 BMW 328I.
  1. Purchase the proper engine coolant based on your manufacturer’s specifications, and get a funnel.
  2. Open your hood
    and locate the coolant tank.
  3. Turn the cap counterclockwise while pressing down to release the cap.
  4. You should see a brightly colored stick called a level float. On the outside of the coolant tank, you should see a diagram showing the level float’s position when properly filled.
  5. Place the funnel in the tank, but leave space to see the level float rise as you pour.
  6. Start pouring in your coolant until the float reaches the proper height as indicated by the diagram.
  7. Remove the funnel carefully and replace the cap.
With your coolant levels properly adjusted, you should notice a change in your BMW’s temperature gauge. Now that you can drive with a little more peace of mind, why not take the time to check out the
