Four-wheel drive is a great feature for winter driving, as it helps you gain traction and power in icy conditions. Plus, it’s easy to activate!
Here’s how to turn on 4WD in your Toyota Highlander:
Step 1: Turn on your car.
Step 2: Press the button labeled 4WD on your gear shift.
Step 3: Your car should switch to four-wheel drive.

: Hit the same 4WD button again.
Keep in mind: Four-wheel drive is convenient for handling tough terrain, but it also burns gas much faster than you normally would. So, make sure you have plenty of fuel and try to only use four-wheel drive when you need more control.
If your Toyota Highlander is equipped with 4WD or AWD, it should generally engage as the default whenever you get behind the wheel. Depending on your model year and other configurations, you may also have additional driving modes to choose from, including for snowy conditions.
