How do I travel with a hamster by car?
I’m headed to my parents' house for a week, but it’s about a three-hour drive. Since no one is around to look after my hamster, Rex, I need to take him with me. What are some tips to travel with a hamster by car?

Rex—what a great name for a hamster! Fortunately, you should be able to travel with a hamster by car easily, as most hamsters are relatively cool with car travel.
Just follow these tips to ensure the drive goes smoothly:
- Get a small carrier that you can secure in the car.
- Cover the carrier with a towel. This mimics nighttime and may prompt your hamster to sleep throughout the road trip.
- Remove the water bottle from the cage. If you don’t, it will likely leak everywhere and upset your pet.
- Take out any loose items in the cage that may roll or cause injury to the hamster.
