How do I remove spray foam from car paint?

Can I remove spray foam from my car body? Someone vandalized my car with spray foam last night––and I can’t seem to get it off. I’m so frustrated.

“So sorry about your car! Before you attempt to remove the foam yourself, proceed with caution.
Spray foam can be aggravating to deal with. You don’t want to cause any extra damage to your vehicle by scrubbing too fast or hard.
Here are two products you can try:
  • Use acetone to dissolve the foam. Avoid touching your car paint with acetone, as it can damage your outer coating.
  • Try Simple Green full concentrate. Cover the foam with water, put Simple Green on a cloth, scrub, then rinse the area again with water. (Wash your car thoroughly after this process.)
Still can’t remove the foam? It’s time to call your insurance company.
If you have comprehensive coverage on your policy, your insurance will cover acts of vandalism.
