How do I increase the horsepower in my Honda Accord?
I have a 2009 Accord LX, which is a great car but a little slow to accelerate. How can I increase the horsepower to give the engine more of a kick?

You can increase the horsepower of your Honda Accord by installing a few new parts in your car.
Option 1: Switch out your exhaust.
- Adding an exhaust with a larger diameter will allow the engine to operate more efficiently and produce more power since exhaust gasses can exit the engine quicker. However, this requires a decent amount of cutting metal and welding, so look for a professional to perform the upgrade.
Option 2: Add a cold air intake.
- The stock intake in a Honda Accord can be pretty restrictive. But you can attach a cold air intake to the vehicle’s throttle body to send colder air to the cylinders, creating a better throttle response.
Option 3: Install a performance chip.
- This will modify engine behavior such as air intake, fuel injection, and ignition settings, allowing the Accord to produce more horsepower instead of prioritizingfuel economy.
Keep in mind: Modifying your vehicle can void existing warranties, make your car insurance more expensive, and/or affect your ability to pass an emissions test. You’ll also want to consider how any potential change(s) you make will impact other parts of your vehicle.
Performance modifications can raise your car insurance premium or even cause your provider to cancel your policy altogether, so speak with your insurance representative before proceeding.
