How do I fix a broken car door handle on the inside?

I just tried to get out of my car and the door handle broke off. How do I fix it? I really don't want to have to crawl into the passenger's seat every time!

Oh no! I’m sure you felt a bit of panic at that moment, even though you could still get out of your car!
To start, you should decide whether you want to try and fix it yourself or get a professional to
repair it
.
If you’d like to try fixing it yourself, collect the following supplies:
  • Screwdriver
  • A box or container to hold screws you remove
  • Trim panel removal tool
  • Wrench for removing nuts or bolts
  • Replacement handle
First, remove the door panel screws and carefully separate the door panel from the rest of the door. Then, switch over to the trim panel removal tool and remove the door trim panel. There may be clips from which you have to separate it. Once it’s separated, gently push the door panel up from the bottom. If there’s a plastic barrier attached, carefully remove it in one piece. Do not cut or damage it.
Swap over to your wrench and remove any bolts or nuts holding the door handle in place, and remove the interior handle.
Now, you’re going to do this all again but in reverse.
Start with your replacement handle and return the nuts and bolts. Test it to make sure it works properly with the inside and outside mechanisms. Replace the plastic vapor barrier, and reattach the door panel to all the clips.
Grab your screwdrivers and screws, and screw them all back into place. Test your door again, and hopefully, it’s good as new!
