How can I sue a roofing company?
The roofing contractors that I hired to fix my roof after the last storm botched the job. The roof still leaks, and it even looks like the caused a few more leaks by fumbling about. I called them and asked them to come and redo the roof and/or give my money back—like their satisfaction guarantee said they would. And they refused. How do you sue a roofing company?

If the contractors are not honoring their advertised guarantee, you can definitely sue the roofing company. Here’s how to do it:
- Have a different contractor or inspector take a look at the roof and give you a quote for how much the repairs will cost. If it’s only a few hundred dollars, you can settle the suit in small claims court. Otherwise, it will have to be standard litigation for damages.
- Find a lawyer who has handled similar cases before.
- Depending on the exact nature and severity of the problem, your lawyer will advise you to file either a Defective Construction Work Claim, a Breach of Contract Claim”, and/or a **Fraud Claim.
- Most of the time, the company will end up settling out of court. If your lawsuit does go to court, though, make sure that you have detailed documentation and photographs of the leaks and other damages caused by the workers.
With any luck, the suit will go your way and the company will have to refund the cost of their services and maybe even pay damages as well!
