Does the Toyota Platinum Warranty cover tires?

I’m going to buy a new Toyota, but I’m also interested in purchasing the Platinum extended warranty. Since I’ve never bought this type of warranty before, I want to make sure that I know what it covers. Will the Toyota Platinum Warranty cover my tires?

By itself, the
Toyota
Platinum Warranty does not cover tires or wheels. However, there’s a caveat—when you go to purchase the Platinum Warranty, you can add the optional tire and wheel agreement. This agreement will pay for any tire damage, provided that the depth of the tire tread is no less than 3/32 of an inch when the damage occurs.
