Does the Cadillac DTS have any recalls?

My dad is wanting to gift my son his Cadillac DTS for his 16th birthday. Even if it’s not the coolest car for a teen to drive, I’m wondering how safe these cars are. Did the Cadillac DTS have any recalls?

They may not be every teen’s dream car, but they’re generally reliable and sturdy cars! The short-lived DTS model was the brand’s attempt to carry on the
DeVille
legacy, but it too came to an end in 2011. Even during its five-year lifespan, the Cadillac DTS did have a handful of recalls on its resume:
2006–2011:
  • Electrical system issues affecting airbag safety and ignition
  • Printed circuit board can short-circuit leading to possible overheating of the control circuit ground wire
2006:
  • Defective power steering hose that may separate and leak fluid
2009:
  • Previous recall repairs reported to cause thermal incidents resulting in a new failure mode of the heated washer fluid system
2010–2011:
  • The starter/alternator cable may come in contact with the power steering return line, causing a power steering fluid leak
2010:
  • Incorrect labeling for tire and loading information could cause confusion
Overall, the various DTS recalls weren’t all extreme, but if you suspect your Cadillac was affected, you can
check for a recall
and see if your vehicle has been repaired since. In the case of the labeling recall, Cadillac will just mail you the correct labels to affix to your vehicle.
