Does renters insurance transfer when you move?
I’m moving to a new city in a couple of months. I’m just starting to pack up for this move, and I’m already stressed out. I think I’m going to lose my mind, and I just want one thing to be easy. Does renters insurance transfer when you move to a new address?

Good news: updating your renters insurance will probably be one of the most hassle-free things about your move! In most cases, you don’t have to cancel your renters insurance just because you’re moving. You can usually pack up your renters insurance and bring it along with you.
Usually, you just need to do update your insurance provider on your change of address as soon as possible. It’s also helpful to let them know your new lease’s beginning and ending dates as well as any additional coverage you want to add or remove. If you’ve made any significant purchases, like a particular collectible item, a new laptop, or something else you want to ensure has coverage, you can let them know that, too.
One other important thing to note is that the cost of your insurance premium might change based on your new location. You can check with your insurance provider to see if that will be the case for you. Still, renters insurance is quite cheap compared to other types of insurance, so the difference shouldn’t be too drastic.
