Does a tuner void a Chevy warranty?
I’m interested in installing a tuner on my Chevy Silverado, but it’s still under warranty. Does a tuner void my Chevy’s warranty coverage?

Yes and no. A tuner won’t necessarily void a Chevy warranty. Simply installing an aftermarket tuner will not be enough to void warranty protection on your Chevrolet.
That being said, if systems in your Chevy fail as the result of the installation of subpar aftermarket parts—like a tuner—Chevy is at liberty to deny you warranty coverage.
Some drivers choose to install tuners on their vehicles, as the equipment allows them to adjust their vehicle’s speed, fuel efficiency, and driveability through the adjustment of various factors, such as engine chips, spark plug gaps, air-fuel rations, and ignition timers. Installing a tuner is perfectly legal and considered to be a standard modification.
However, it frequently results in a driver’s active powertrain warranty being voided by the manufacturer.
So if you’re dead set on installing a tuner, it’s important to remember that Chevrolet models are protected by a five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain limited warranty. To be safe, you may want to wait until your warranty has expired to install your tuner.
