Does a Lexus warranty transfer to a new owner?
My neighbor isn’t too happy with his Lexus, so I’m thinking of buying it. It’s still pretty new and he said the warranty is still active, but I don’t know if that will change when I buy it. Is the Lexus warranty transferable to a new owner?

Active warranties are a good thing to keep an eye out for when you’re buying a used car. A Lexus warranty should transfer to a new owner without any problems. Just make sure to complete the private sale with a proper transfer of ownership—not doing so could put your Lexus warranty at risk.
- Both the seller and the buyer need to sign the car title to release and take over ownership, respectively.
- The buyer needs to take the title to the DMV with their state’s required documents to file the transfer.
- The seller needs to file a release of liability.
Once everything is said and done, you’ll officially possess ownership of your neighbor’s Lexus. You should have no problems using the Lexus warranty so long as the vehicle is still within the coverage limit.
