Can you talk to your driving examiner?

My road test is coming up. I want to know if I have to awkwardly sit there with a stranger while I’m driving or if I can lighten the mood up with some small talk. Can I talk to the examiner during my driving test?

Congrats on your upcoming road test! This is the start of a beautiful thing: the freedom of the road!
You can talk to your driving examiner if you’re taking the test in the U.S. or Canada. However, if you live in Great Britain or Australia, it may be frowned upon or against the rules.
Even if it’s okay, be careful to not get carried away! You don’t want to embarrass yourself by making a mistake—or even worse, failing the exam because you weren’t focused.
After you pass your road test, get your license, and are welcomed into the world of driving, you’re going to need
car insurance
to hit the road legally.
