Can I buy home insurance for my parents?

I’m in the process of buying my own home and getting home insurance. However, I just found out my parents don’t have home insurance on their home! I’m in shock and want to help them. Could I buy home insurance for my parents?

It’s great you want to help out your parents! While you can buy home insurance for your parents, their name will need to be on the policy as the official policyholders.
When taking out any type of insurance, you need insurable interest, meaning a reason why you’d like insurance on an asset. With both car and home insurance, companies typically only allow the registered owner to purchase insurance.
That said, you can still pay for your parents’ policy. They’ll just have to provide their information for the application along with their home’s details for the
