Yenko Camaro: Big Comeback, Big Power

Chevrolet
has been selling the Camaro for more than 50 years, introducing it as a competitor to the Ford Mustang for the 1967 model year. The Chevy Camaro has become an iconic name in the automobile industry, with older models highly coveted among car collectors.
But did you know there's a lesser known version of the Camaro that may be even more coveted by some? That version is the Yenko Camaro.
Because Chevrolet doesn't give its Camaros the specs that some collectors want, late Pennsylvania Chevy dealer and racer Don Yenko made a name for himself by selling modified versions of the Camaro, and other Chevy models. Yenko died in 1987, but his legacy lives on with the reintroduction of the Yenko Camaro.

The powerful Yenko Camaro is back

Robb Report
writes about Specialty Vehicle Engineering bringing the Yenko Camaro back for the 2021 model year. It's a 2021 Yenko/SC Stage II Camaro, which is reminiscent of the original model. Being a niche project, Specialty Vehicle Engineering is manufacturing a limited number of the vehicles.
A total of 50 numbered vehicles are being made, making it one of the most limited car runs on record. That means if you want one, you'll have to be quick to order it—and willing to spend tens of thousands of dollars for the car.

What is Specialty Vehicle Engineering?

Specialty Vehicle Engineering is a second-stage vehicle manufacturer and Tier One supplier to General Motors, but more importantly the company is the exclusive builder of current-gen Yenko supercars.
Chevrolet is an American company, so it seems appropriate that Specialty Vehicle Engineering is, too, as the firm is based in New Jersey.

The specs of the new Yenko Camaro

If you're going for one of the latest-gen Yenko Camaros, under the hood you'll be getting a  custom-built 416 ci (6.8-liter) supercharged LT-1-based V8 engine, along with a six-speed manual transmission. If you're looking for power on your car, you won't be disappointed. You'll get an impressive 1,050 hp with 875 lb-ft of torque, impressing even those who seek the best performance.
You can also get an enhanced version of the model, which is based on a stock Camaro 1SS or 2SS. The premium model comes equipped with a 1LE Track Package option. That gives you added features like Magnetic Ride Control, performance-tuned suspension, and a heavy-duty cooling system. You also get Brembo brakes, giving you six pistons in front and four in the back.

If you want a Yenko vehicle, it's going to cost you

If you want a Yenko Camaro, you're going to have to pony up a lot of cash. The price of the Yenko/SC Stage II Camaro package is $69,995, and it's an additional $45,000 if you want the optional 1LE package. It's not cheap, but it may be worth it for what you get and the exclusivity of it.
A Yenko Camaro is an investment. Any time you make such a large purchase, you want to make sure it is protected with the best insurance plan.
