What is the Kia Sorento’s 3rd row like?

The Kia Sorento can fit up to seven passengers. Its foldable third row can seat two people, though raising it significantly limits cargo space.
The Kia Sorento comes in eight trim levels, ranging from the base LX trim to the X-Line SX Prestige AWD trim, and all trim levels come with the foldable third row.

Space and comfort

Having a third row of seats is all well and good, but what use is an extra row if it’s not comfortable?
Comfort is a tricky thing to quantify, and it really depends on your passengers’ size and needs. The best indicators of comfort are legroom, headroom, and passenger volume measurements. Let’s check out the specs on the 2022 Kia Sorento:
  • Third row: 29.6 inches of legroom, 36.8 inches of headroom
  • Second row: 39.1 inches of legroom, 41.7 inches of headroom
  • First row: 40.3 inches of legroom, 41.4 inches of headroom
  • Total passenger volume: 121.3 cubic feet
Clearly, the Sorento’s third row is a bit cramped, especially compared to its spacious second and third rows. If you’re looking for something a bit roomier, check out the

Is the Kia Sorento good for big families and long trips?

The Kia Sorento’s third row is perfectly fine for small children. However, teenagers and adults will feel a bit squeezed due to its limited leg room. Also, folding up the Sorento’s third row severely limits its cargo space.
That said, there’s a lot to like about the Kia Sorento besides its third row, particularly if you have a big family and/or plan on taking the car on long trips.
The Sorento is available as a hybrid or plug-in hybrid, maximizing fuel efficiency and saving you tons of money at the pump. It also comes standard with all-wheel drive, allowing the Sorento to traverse even the toughest of driving conditions.
The Sorento also comes standard with forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the Sorento holds a four-star overall NHTSA safety rating.
If you have small children and are looking for a safe, mid-sized SUV to ferry them around in, the Kia Sorento is a pretty solid option.
