If you’re still not sure what your Ford Edge’s gas tank size is, we recommend re-reading the last section—but if you’re a rebel and like going against the grain, you can take matters into your own hands and measure your gas tank yourself.
Measure the gas tank
To measure the volume of your tank, you’ll need a calculator and measuring tape. Next, just multiply the width, length, and height of the tank and divide that number by 231, which is the number of cubic inches in a gallon.
Check your owner’s manual
When in doubt, check your owner’s manual for all of your SUV’s specifications. Look for “fuel tank capacity” or similar phrasing to find information on your vehicle’s gas tank size.
Drive till empty, then fill it up
We don't recommend this method, but it's an option. Just drive until your SUV’s gas gauge hits “E”, and then fill up. This will give you a general idea of how big your gas tank is.
Just don’t drive on E for too long, or you might damage your engine.
How to save on fuel costs in a Ford Edge
With regular gasoline and all-wheel drive (which comes standard in every trim), the Ford Edge has a maximum fuel efficiency of 19 to 21 mpg city and 25 to 28 mpg highway.
The 2022 Ford Edge’s trim levels, and their corresponding fuel efficiencies, are:
SE: 21 mpg city/28 mpg highway
SEL: 21 mpg city/28 mpg highway
ST-Line: 21 mpg city/28 mpg highway
Titanium: 21 mpg city/28 mpg highway
ST: 19 mpg city/25 mpg highway
All 2022 Ford Edge trim levels with an inline-4 engine have a combined fuel economy of 23, while the ST, with its powerful V6 engine, has a combined fuel economy of 21.
To make the most of your SUV’s fuel efficiency, follow these steps:
Keep up with maintenance. Get your SUV serviced regularly to keep your vehicle’s engine in tip-top shape.
Avoid idling. Don’t let your SUV’s engine run for too long to “warm it up”. Running the vehicle’s engine when it’s not in motion eats up gas unnecessarily.
Drive cautiously. Ease up on that gas pedal and avoid accelerating too quickly. It’s a safe driving practice and a fuel economy tip!
